What Happens at Market?

So we have been back from market for a few weeks now and the clothes have been arriving weekly! The store has been crazy busy since our return, but we would like to take a chance to reflect on what happens at market.  Some of you may wonder what it is like. Is more work or play? What are the dynamics between my mom and I as we shop through the hundreds of vendors at a show like Magic?

Going to market is so much fun for my mom and I. It is very exciting but also very stressful! Since this was our second time going, we had a system worked out. My mom knows the vendors better than I do since she does most of the ordering between our visits to market.  I followed her around to take notes on what we had purchased, what we would like to go back and look at, what we would like to look for.  We spend a lot of time researching prior to market to help us predict what trends we want to have in our store.

We are very fortunate to have each other when we go to market because it is helpful to bounce ideas off one another.  We make a good team because we are at different places in our lives. I understand what women my age want and my mom understands what women her age want.  This helps us to make good decisions and to offer a variety of styles for all ages!

We spent four days shopping at market. This is a lot of shopping! One challenge is being able to remember our style, where we come from, what our customers love.  When surrounded by many different styles it can be tough to stay grounded and to remember who we are buying for.  When we post on Facebook while we are gone, your opinions are so helpful when we run into this problem! We love hearing from all of our fans and supporters! You remind us of what we are looking for and who we are buying for.
